![]() ![]() ![]() These are my general impressions of the difference between NI 7.2 and NI 8 after several hours playing with the NI 8 Demo. Those obsessed with Nouse reduction and sharpness will have a field date with Neat Image 8. While I do not use it to it fullest power. Neat Image has always been a leader when it comes to noise reduction. Like most Noise reduction software, if you go overboard thing start looking unnatural. I have not played with Neat Image 8 much. I then ran its optimized many times and have had no problem. When I restarted Photoshop I used Neat Image and filter an image and save a profile for future matching. When I exited from Neat Image Photoshop CC 2015.5 crashed in a Nvidia CUDA DLL. It failed to run many times and generated GPU Error in it log. When I first Installed Neat Image 8 the first thing I tried was running it's optimizer. To a Dell t5600 workstation dual Xeon 6 core processors 40GB of ECC ram Nvidia Quadro 4000 and a boot SSD with dual displays. The main reason I upgraded to Neat Image 8 was a few years back I upgraded from an IBM ThinkPad with a 15" IPD 133DPI LCD with 1600x1200px. I have never felt the need to look at any other Noise reduction plugin. I have used Neat Image since it was first released. ACR is also now a filter and has new tools and features like Dehaze which also can be used. I tend to procrastinate in the beginning and later do additional noise reduction and sharpening. I take it easy there for reducing noise and sharpening involves trade-off which results in some reduction of image quality. While the newer versions of ACR can do an outstanding job reducing noise and sharpening. Most likely I'll have Open a raw file via ACR as a smart image layer and MeatImag will be a smart filter that can be readjusted. If I like what I see I'll apply that filtering. For Filtering I use Neate Image Advance preset to reduce noise and sharpen a slightly out of focus image mostly. If the resulting profile quality is High like above 90%. Most of the Time It there is nor a matching Profile I'll try Neatimage Auto profile feature. I do not play that much with tuning NeatInage for every image I use it i. I am also not obsessed with Noise and sharpness. They control noise well, The 1D Mk IV high IOS images are outstanding. My cameras are Canon DSLR a 1D Mk II and a 1D Mk IV. You need to understand I do not use it all the time. So when Neat image 8 was announced and the announcement stated it now supported GPU and multiple Processor and there was and upgrade offer for around $40 for the Photoshop Plug-in I went for it. I upgraded from Neat Image 6 to Neat Image 7 I think that was free, I did not upgrade to Neat Image 7.6 I think there was a cost involved. ![]()
